What are Students saying about IUON?A New World
2/2/08 I still remember the flight to St. Kitts. We were a mix of nursing, medical, and veterinarian students; professors; and tourists. For some people they have been living on the island already and they were just returning from Christmas break and for me and a few others we were embarking on the trip of a lifetime. I remember sitting there with mixed feelings, in disbelief that I just traveled across the states and over the Atlantic to a tiny little island which I
never heard of until a month prior. But at the same time my adrenalin was pumping, my eyes wide open and I knew that this flight was either going to make me or break me. We were all strangers spread out throughout the United States and now we were all in another county. The greatest friendships were formed; we were inseparable, but most of all we became each other's family. Later to find out that this person I met on the plane would soon become one of my best friends and my
future roommate in Paducah, Kentucky, the place where we would graduate from our nursing program. The school work became vigorous and extremely demanding. We knew if we had any chance of surviving nursing school we had to work even harder. Twenty months later and it was all finished. I still remember stepping off that first flight at St. Kitts like it was yesterday. I currently work in the ICU at a major hospital in the bay area. I would never imagine making over $50 per hour or
over $90,000 in my first year as a RN. R.J.G. "It is truly a dream come true. I am living my dream of being an RN…and it is just awesome. I will start working on my BSN pretty soon." S.G. First IUON Student to register
As a recent IUON graduate, S.G. now works on a cardiac unit in one of the top five heart hospitals in Oklahoma and takes care of critical patients that require heart surgery. I really appreciate your words of
encouragement before I left. I had some fears about my performance in Kentucky but you helped ease those anxieties. You know I did really well this semester, I was afraid I wouldn't be up to par with my Kentucky counterparts but honestly, I was well above speed and that was a great feeling of confidence. I must also tell you that IUON did an excellent job at preparing us on our clinical skills. Thank goodness for the multiple check-offs, I can't tell you how I could hear my
instructors words as I was performing the task on a patient.
You know, Dr. Cannon gave us an excellent experience in the virtual hospital scenarios. They were the most helpful and I wish we would have had more. To be honest with you, that experience helped me stay afloat here in the States. C.H. 2007 IUON transfer student In a survey of incoming Spring 2007 students, here is what they had to say..."It has been awesome! Everyone has been so friendly and helpful. The facilities are amazing and I am very impressed with them " "This is really wonderful. I was so happy when I arrived and realize that everything was well arranged. I believe this is the best of all
schools I have heard of because you are so accommodating" "There is a "calmness" vibe in the city which would allow me to reduce stress levels in school. I believe that this campus exceeds expectations for nursing." "It has been really wonderful, from my
arrival into St. Kitts, I thought I was in paradise. I believe Robert Ross International University will bring out the best in me." "In fact it is breathtaking. I see it is still very new and I am proud to be trained in such a place as this." "My arrival
has been great. Everyone has been very helpful and it made my transition here much easier and enjoyable." |
