The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a
professional program that builds on a foundation of knowledge in science,
humanities and related professional disciplines. The International University of Nursing
(IUON) is founded on a philosophy that is totally nursing focused.
As a result, IUON provides a unique educational experience with all university
resources dedicated to the nursing program.IUON’s commitment to excellence supports eight Institutional goals:
Curriculum, Human Relations, Community Interaction, Research, Leadership,
Cultural Appreciation, Information Technology and Lifelong Learning.
The curriculum at IUON is modeled after the best U.S. and
Canadian nursing schools. The academic program is both accelerated and
rigorous, with a focus on preparing students for licensure as beginning
professional nurses and qualifies graduates for progression into advanced
degree programs. The IUON Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) is based
on the four central concepts of the nursing meta-paradigm: client, health,
nursing, and environment and on the faculty's beliefs about teaching/learning,
and nursing education. BSN coursework emphasizes critical thinking, health and
human functioning, care and therapeutics, person/environment fit and health
care resources. Clinical experiences occur in a wide variety of hospital and
community settings serving diverse populations; role development, decision
making, health status evaluation, and scholarship are emphasized.
IUON operates year round with classes
beginning in September, January, and May. With this continuous schedule, students
complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program in approximately
three calendar years. IUON provides each student with academic advisement and a
planned program which meets individual needs and ability to progress.
The BSN program is offered at our state of the art campus located on the exotic Caribbean island of St. Kitts. Our facilities are comparable to the best nursing schools, and provide students with an outstanding learning environment. Students complete six semesters in St. Kitts and then transition back to one of our partner schools in the U.S.
or Canada to complete their final year.
Our students graduate with two degrees: one from IUON and the other from the U.S.
or Canadian partner school. Having graduated from the U.S.
or Canadian nursing school, students are eligible to apply for the
RN licensure examination.
Become that nurse of the future and experience
the many and wonderful possibilities this profession has to offer.
